“During my 4 years in Nepal as wife of the British Ambassador*, during which time I taught Art History at the KU Arts faculty, I discovered the wide range of talents of Nepali artists, their extraordinary friendliness and enthusiasm,  and their openness to new ideas.  Unfortunately, I also discovered the  lack of resources available to support contemporary art, including poor infrastructure, and a shortage of opportunities for artists to learn and develop.   I am therefore delighted to be associated with the launch of this exciting new project and hope to be closely associated with it in the years to come.   This is not another job creation scheme, but a laudable attempt to harness and develop a vibrant culture. expose it to outside influences, and give Nepali artists the focus and encouragement they so badly need.” 16th April 2008
